Cloverfield

Cloverfield takes the basic "godzillian" plot that has been pounded so deeply into the ground starting with 1925's The Lost World and coming up to the modern era with The Host yet manages to turn it into an origional film. The film which is shot in first person home movie mode gives us one man's view of a monster's attack on New York City. This combination of Godzilla and Escape From New York reveals something suprisingly fresh. The only drawback to this film is you may experience a minor headache due to the camera angels and excessive special effects.
